Have you heard about Ethy? Their app helps you discover sustainable brands quickly and easily, so you can avoid greenwashing and feel guilt-free about shopping ethically.

To celebrate our ongoing partnership, we caught up with Matthew Sochor, co-founder and Businesses Engagement Manager at ethy.

Tell us about ethy

We’re ethy! We aim to empower businesses and consumers to act for a more sustainable future. We enable brands to proof-back their sustainability efforts through an accreditation service designed by experts and communicate these in a way that shoppers trust and understand. We’re making it easier for shoppers to discover brands that practise what they preach and shop in a more environmentally and socially considerate way. By making sustainable shopping a more accessible and appealing prospect, we are accelerating the transition of sustainable shopping toward the mainstream market. We also provide training and resources that help companies continuously progress on their sustainability journey.

How did you come across Scrapp?

I first came across Scrapp when they were crowdfunding back in March 2022. At the time, we were in the midst of a huge rebrand and got in touch with Scrapp once everything was completed; the partnership has grown since then. Since discovering them, I personally have been using the app to make recycling simpler!

What positive impact does partnering with Scrapp have for you and your customers?

The partnership will create a positive impact for both types of customers at ethy - our platform users and accredited brands. With Scrapp’s extensive knowledge, we’ll be able to create a more robust framework for our brands to be assessed against; assisting consumers who want to shop more sustainably. As part of the partnership, we’ll hope to share recycling resources to our brands as well as educate our user base on how to be recycling heroes! Finally, we’ll be able to offer our brands the chance to be a verified Scrapp user to ensure consumers recycle their products correctly and celebrate their circular packaging initiatives.

Why did you want to partner with Scrapp?

Our framework is core to ethy and we’re always looking to improve, iterate and collaborate with experts within different industries to increase the credibility of our standards. Since Scrapp are the experts in the recyclability field, it made sense to partner with them in order to work collaboratively, to help brands commit to a more sustainable future.

What are you most excited about within sustainability?

I’m most excited about what interesting new innovative ideas will come about to solve the biggest environmental problems facing our planet. As we’re a tech company, I’m always interested in technological ideas; we’re always sharing news and articles about sustainability internally on our slack channel!

What is your favourite song and why?

Tough question - it changes all the time! Currently, Please by Jessie Ware, it was the most played song for me over the summer. Such an upbeat track. I’m also excited to see my ‘Spotify wrapped’ and see how my music taste has evolved over this year!
