Scrapp Verified: How we’re helping brands and retailers to c

This week we learned that another big brand was caught out for misleading environmental claims. In 2022, isn’t it about time we began helping people make more responsible decisions by clearing up this confusion?

At Scrapp, we want to empower forward-thinking brands & retailers to navigate the trap of greenwashing. We’re then going one step further — by building a place to celebrate circular packaging efforts with their customers.

Why isn’t recycling simple?

At first glance, symbols like “100% recyclable” could be easily mistaken as directing us to place bags (like the one below) in our recycling bin at home. But that would be wrong. In fact, the only current way to recycle plastic bags is to take them to your local supermarket’s soft plastic drop-off point.

The problem is there’s a big difference between what is recyclable in theory and what your local authority actually accepts. Currently, there is also no standardized way to show consumers how to sort packaging correctly based on local recycling rules — until now.

Introducing: Scrapp Verified ✅

By joining the ‘Scrapp Verified’ scheme, brands can:

  • Empower customers with a free tool to recycle their products correctly.
  • Make a positive impact on the planet by helping people divert packaging from our oceans and landfill.
  • Transparently communicate sustainable supply chains, circular packaging, and cruelty-free ingredients.

How can brands get involved?

We’re looking to work with forward-thinking brands to become Verified in our award-winning recycling app. By making this commitment, they are joining a growing group of change-makers from local low waste stores to B-Corps and big household names.

When we say this is an opportunity for ALL brands, we mean it. You do not have to produce entirely recyclable or compostable packaging to be Scrapp Verified. Our goal is to help people recycle correctly. So it’s equally important to show what should not go in recycling bins as pointing out what should.

It’s super simple to get involved, all we require is a few details, and you can become officially Scrapp Verified!

What if you make changes later?

Rather than spending time and effort reprinting labels, simply outline any changes you’ve made to a member of the team. We guarantee to have them updated in the Scrapp App in less than 48 hours.

What’s the cost?

Becoming Scrapp Verified is entirely free. We’ll even throw in a bunch of handy marketing materials to help you share the commitment with fans and followers of your brand.

Can Scrapp provide actionable insights?

Totally. We go one step further with our Impact Certification — basically the Trip Advisor of recycling. We built the program alongside brands & retailers to clarify confusing sustainability claims and help them align with their sustainability goals.

Firstly, we run a comprehensive analysis to reveal how recyclable products are in the local areas where they’re sold and consumed. We then compare performance against national recycling averages and several other criteria to award you with a Scrapp Impact Score. Your certification can be shared online, printed on your packaging, or even framed within your store!

Scrapp’s Impact Certification is an affordable, bespoke service.
